Let’s go not catch some fish!

Leaving from my marina – Danversport Yacht Club – at the end of the Danvers River

A great spot to drop anchor and have lunch – the inaptly-named Great Misery Island, at the entrance to Salem Sound, just north of the populated Bakers Island

Or, if you have more time and $$, go to Venice – the Rialto Bridge (Oct ’00)

And look around abit (St Mark’s Sq/Cathedral)…

          And looking other way …

And move on to Istanbul (Jan ’93) … the Blue Mosque – across from St.Sophia …

Or Plovdiv, Bulgaria (Oct ’00), one of Europe’s oldest cities, dating back 6,000 years…

Or, for something completely different, Samarkand, Uzbekistan (Jan ’93) ..

                                   The Registan Square …

An as yet unvisited dream destination – Karen Blixen’s farm outside Nairobi, Kenya

Now, we fly back home, to Boston, in Thunderbird 2 (my favorite of the five futuristic vehicles from the 1960s marionette series “Thunderbirds Are Go”.  Perhaps Virgil will pilot our flight…

Back in Boston, we stop by Fenway Park, for Red Sox fans the equivalent of the Coliseum for early christians … pretty but deadly in the end…

Where once dwelt the great and enduring Carl Yastrzemski … 23 seasons, more than 450 homers and more than 3,400 hits – only AL player ever to do that!  YAZ!

Or, another local summer mecca … P-Town – great harbor and strange doings …

An even more dramatic pic of the Pilgrim Monument in P-Town, lit for the holiday season …

Moving south, to Eastham, “the Target Ship”; long gone..the victim of 30 years of Navy practice bombing and 60 years of sea, salt, ice and recreational looting.  The SS Gen. James Longstreet – Nightime and daylight pics …

Just a little north of Eastham, still on Cape Cod, in Wellfeet, is Duck Pond, a beautiful, secluded glacially scoured “kettle pond.” Clear, warm water great for swimming and catching frogs and tadpoles.  Now, if only a bit more parking could be provided at the end of the long, unmarked dirt road which yields up this natural treasure!

Drying off, we leave Wellfleet and head to Rome for the wedding of a dear and beautiful friend.  We get to the church (it’s nighttime when we arrive)…

and then it’s off to the reception …where bubbles mix with bubbly for a lovely evening (and unlike Britney, a marriage that definitely won’t be annulled)….

Having been blessed and impressed with marriage done right, we offer a picture of Elena in super-size, Soviet “Cult of the Personality” monolithic style (which is her favorite genre) …

Another fine painting not in my personal collection; a young Queen Victoria by Thomas Sully, circa 1838 (Metropolitan Museum of Art – NYC)

The following faces are in my personal collection …
